Rodrick Trinidad has gone a different route in the world of Subarus.  Instead of owning a WRX/STi, the go-to choice for most Subaru enthusiasts, he chose something a little less common.  Rodrick has an beautiful 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Limited, shockingly with over 200,000 miles and still looking this good.  Rodrick got this gem of a Legacy in October of 2012, after owning a truck beforehand.  He purchased the car with the inspiration of the once-popular racing game “Gran Turismo 4,” a video game a lot of us grew up playing and love dearly.  “It was one of my favorites to drive and compete with -I always loved a family sedan with power,” he says.  This love for “family sedans with power” has resulted in an extensive amount of modifications to his car, creating a true beast of Legacy.

Legacy GTs aren’t something you see too often, especially one done to this extent in such great condition.  The thought of standing out and being different appealed to Rodrick greatly in part of his decision in purchasing the car.  He says, “What I enjoy the most definitely has to be that I stand out in a sea full of WRXs and STis.  The fact that the car in my area is so uncommon makes me very happy.”  Rodrick has done a significant amount of custom modifications, some being purchased off-the-shelf, while others fabricated up by nobody other than himself.  Whether it’s the chassis mounted splitter, rear wickerbill trunk lip or the custom diffuser, it’s all super impressive and looks incredible – giving the car an extra flare and edge it deserves.  “When parts aren’t available, I’m always going to draw up a design in my head, make a rough draft on the car, and then fabricate it.”  Rodrick says the purpose of the car is to be “function first, then form” – a motto we can stand behind.

When I originally saw the car for the first time scrolling through Instagram, I knew this Legacy GT owner was an enthusiast who enjoyed the driving experience, which is a style that really resonates with me.  Seeing the once-silver Enkei RPF1’s, yellow tire letters and “track style” fitment, it drew me and I had to follow him.  Now he’s sitting on a newer set of Enkei wheels; a set of gold NT03+M’s.  A clean, yet meaty look, giving it the perfect stance and leaving most of us drooling in admiration.  Rodrick’s future plans for the car involve building the engine, due to having 206,000 miles on the clock with the stock block and turbo.  He says, “at that point things will go a bit more wild.”  To see more of Rodrick’s Legacy check him out at @rattsl on Instagram, and be sure to give a follow, you won’t be disappointed.  Thanks again to Rodrick for taking the time to talk to us and letting us feature you as our Driver of the Day!
