Forums and Facebook groups are a great way to meet like-minded individuals, especially if you are new to the Subaru community.  Ethan (@wrboiii) met Brandon on one of the hawkeye Impreza groups on Facebook and they got to talking.  Brandon owns a 2006 Impreza WRX sedan.  This wasn’t his first Subaru though, as he’s had at least one in his possession since 2007, currently owning four.  He got the car 3 and a half years ago as a gift for his 29th birthday from his wife, how cool is that?!  He says, “I didn’t buy it, but I would have bought it if she hadn’t.”

His WRX has gone through quite the transformation throughout his ownership.  We asked Brandon what he enjoys most about the car, and he said “I would have to say the fully-built version 7 STi Spec-C transmission, with front and rear Cusco limited-slip differentials.  They have really made it a monster on the road.”  I personally haven’t heard of many Subarus running the Cusco RS differentials, which really stood out to me.  As for some of his most significant and current modifications, the list can go on forever.

He has a fully built motor and transmission, all done by GST Motorsports out of Hayward, California.  In addition to the built long block, Brandon has JE Time Attack FSR pistons, Brian Crower Racing I-Beam connecting rods, port and polished heads, and a Blouch 18GXT turbo – just to name a few of the go-fast parts.  Brandon also added a DCCD Pro Spider controller, which allows him to adjust the amount of torque distributed to both axles, similar to the STis from factory.  Aside from power mods, he’s done a full WRC (World Rally Championship) widebody kit.  The car looks incredible with it.  You don’t see too many Subarus with a fully-molded WRC kit rolling around town without a team trailer.  A full respray is in affect, which will really transform the car.  Once paint is finished he will be throwing in the new Autopower 4-point cage as well.

Brandon is not only working on this particular WRX, but has a whole lot planned for his other Subarus as well.  In addition to his ’06, he has a ’96 Impreza L, ’03 WRX, and a 2017 Forester.  The Impreza L is planned to be a carbon 22B clone, which is awesome.  The 2003 WRX is going to be a full-on time-attack race car, which is even crazier.  As for the Forester – that’s his daily.  But you never know, he may want to mess with it someday!  To see more of Brandon’s widebody WRX and the rest of his projects, check him out on Instagram at @petey_wrxracing.  Thanks again to Brandon for letting us feature you as our Driver of the Day!
